사단법인 휴먼아시아는 6월 16일 토요일 오후 고려대학교 국제관 217호에서 ‘2018 국제 모의 UN 인권이사회 UPR’ 오리엔테이션을 진행하였습니다. 8월 1일-2일 양일간 고려대학교 백주년기념관에서 개최되는 올해의 모의UPR은 한국, 일본, 홍콩의 대학(원)생이 주축이 되어 동북아시아 4개 유엔회원국 (한국, 북한, 일본, 중국)의 인권문제를 이해하고 나아가 해결책을 모색하는 것을 목적으로 합니다.

휴먼아시아 서창록 대표님의 환영사로 시작된 본 오리엔테이션은 국제인권보호 메커니즘 강의 (홍미화 박사, 고려대학교 인권센터 연구교수), 모의 UPR 본선 진행 방법 안내 및 팀 빌딩의 순서로 진행되었습니다.

마지막 순서로 진행된 팀 빌딩 시간에서 참가자들의 열정을 엿볼 수 있었습니다. 대한민국(ROK)과 조선 민주주의 인민공화국(DPRK)팀으로 나뉘어 참가 동기 및 포부를 이야기하는 참가자들의 모습에서 짧은 시간이지만 팀원들 간에 돈독해진 분위기를 느낄 수 있었습니다. 끝으로 자료집에 게재될 각 참가자의들의 사진촬영으로 오리엔테이션을 마무리하였습니다.

7월 31일에 진행될 Social Night, 그리고 본격적인 모의 UPR이 시작되는 8월이 다가오기 전까지 팀원들의 열정과 협동력이 나날이 향상되길 기원합니다!

On June 16th, the orientation of 2018 International Model UN Human Rights Council Universal Periodic Review was held at the Korea University. This year’s UPR focuses on the purpose of understanding current Human Right Issues and searching for solutions. International students, including those from Hong Kong and Japan, will be divided into 4 different governments of the Republic of Korea, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, China, and Hong Kong to understand Human Rights Issues deeply.

Participants for representing ROK and DPRK attended this orientation to gain detailed information of finals and to share their enthusiasm towards the issue of Human Rights. Throughout 4 hours of the whole session, participants were given the welcoming speech, lecture on Human Rights and United Nations, information session and the sharing session from the team-buildings.

During the team-building session, participants got opportunities to choose one topic among freedom of opinion and expression, human trafficking, rights of the children, climate change and environment, and gender inequality and violence. It was able to observe their will of knowledge and passion on current human rights issues from their sharing and movements.
